GREAT DANES

Bishop

Last year we began working with the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue which services Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming in taking in unwanted Great Danes and adopting them to loving homes. I knitted and donated a custom Great Dane sweater for Bishop, a Dane that could not be adopted due to a terminal illness. Unfortunately Bishop passed away this year which is a real heart breaker. I was amazed at how hard these volunteers worked taking in more than one dog when needed. I contribute a portion of my proceeds for any Great Dane coat I sell on this site. If you can donate please see their web site at www.rmgreatdane.org.

Through my association with the rescue I met other Great Dane lovers who adore their pets and wanted Great Dane coats. We do Great Dane clothing: All Great Dane are custom sweaters for Great Danes. The sweaters can be made in a conservative style Great Dane sweater or as a Great Dane fashion sweaters. The following Great Dane pictures are examples of some of these extra large dog sweaters:

Perhaps a little information is needed as to why these animals need Great Dane Clothing. The consequences of not using a Great Dane coat in cold weather is that can develop hypothermia. While extra large dog coats are difficult to find locally, Great Dane clothing is readily available on the Internet and should be used for all Danes in cold climates. Great Dane coats should be used for older dog and dogs with arthritis in the house. If you notice your dog shivering, lethargic during winter, and moving slowly in the fall and winter you should definitely consider getting your dog Dane sweater.

This shows the top side of a snapback. The closure uses magnetic snaps to secure the sweater. The snaps are covered by crocheted buttons. This is the best style to use for a Great Dane as it is easy to put on and take off.

We make our custom Great Dane Sweaters from wool, which makes them warm as well as easy for the owner to put the custom Great Dane sweater on and off. We call this design of Great Dane coat a Snapback because the sweater has legs that are easy to step into and the Grest Dane clothing goes over the body to the top of the dog. We have magnetic snap to hold the custom Great Dane sweater on the dog. The snaps are easy to snap and unsnap although they are a tight in the beginning. This picture shows the crocheted buttons that cover the snaps.

This is Titus in a snapback. You can see that the sweater is comfortable. Titus really likes his sweater and doesn't like having it taken off.

Our Great Dane clothing is made to measure. If you look at out measuring chart you will see that we take an large number of measurement to make the extra large dog sweater. Because of this method the extra large dog sweater will fit around the neck which is generally a problem with Great Dane sweaters. The Snapback style covers the under side of the dog which is important in keeping the dog warm. Also remember you are getting a one-of-a-kind sweater that you would not be able to get elsewhere.

This Great Dane clothing is an example of the Snapback in the conservative style. The fit is perfect for this Dane. He's comfortable and ready to take walks. The sweater keeps him clean, warm, and secure. He lives in a house where the temperatures are cooler so that he also wears the sweater in the house.

This is Kona in her peach tweed snapback. Notice how you can accent the color of your dog with the color of your yarn. This is a beautiful sweater and Kona looks great.

Kona' s Great Dane coat is a real show stopper. Her owner chose a tweed color yarn with a matching plain yarn. (See our online color chart.) This Great Dane fashion sweater is how you can make your dog be different and stylish without a lot of extra embellishments. Again, this shows our one-of-a-kind Great Dane sweaters.
